Thanks for checking out my music.
I bought my first guitar in Norman, OK in 1994. I was apprehensive and I asked the guy behind the counter, “Do you think I can learn?” He said, “Well, I can’t answer that for you. That’s like asking if you have a chance with the best looking girl in town, but I’ll tell you this. You won’t if you don’t try and it’s not enough just to want it badly.” I eventually learned guitar and somehow married the prettiest girl.

INTRO:
Folks say I’m never gonna make it very far
All I do is fish and play guitar
VERSE 1:
I’m what they call an underachiever
Hopeless romantic, a slacker, and a dreamer
I’ve got stars in my eyes
My head in the clouds
I’m either fishin’ on the bank
Or jammin’ real loud
CHORUS:
Tunin’ my strings, wettin’ a line
Strummin’ a chord, waitin’ on a bite
Castin’ a reel, pickin’ a tune
Singin’ by the campfire
Or fishin’ ‘neath the moon
INTRO:
Folks say I’m never gonna make it very far
All I do is fish and play guitar
VERSE 2:
At the lake at dawn, rod-and-reel in hand
Up late at night, playin’ six-string in a band
Baitin’ a hook out on a pond
Strummin’ the music to this song
CHORUS:
Tunin’ my strings, wettin’ a line
Strummin’ a chord, waitin’ on a bite
Castin’ a reel, pickin’ a tune
Singin’ by the campfire
Or fishin’ ‘neath the moon

OWL LADY
By Jeremy Castle
© 2018 Jeremy Glen Castle
VERSE 1:
There were ornamental owls
All across the house
Upon every single shelf
On everything
They were up and down the hall
Upon every single wall
Her collection made the people say, “she’s crazy”
That owl lady
But nobody ever knows
The whole story as it goes
And there’s always so much than more than what we see
Well, to understand it all
It goes back to late one Fall
They were both way down in Texas when they met
They were young and love was sweet
And he swept her off her feet
And the way they fell in love she can’t forget
They were down in San Antone
She was standing all alone
By their river walk the night he said “hello”
Strolling past the Alamo
In a cafe, they would go
When he looked in to her eyes and softly said,
Girl, you’re beautiful
CHORUS:
He sang, who, who, who wins my heart
It was you, you, you right from the start
And, Hootie, we won’t ever be apart
Because I love you so
And girl, you’re beautiful
VERSE 2:
It was 1933, when he got down on one knee
With a diamond ring clinched gently in his palm
And he kissed her on the hand
Said, if you let me be your man
I’ll take you as my bride and never leave
You make me happy
You’re so beautiful
He would buy her owls for fun
She loved every single one
And he loved to see her face each time she smiled
It was 1941, with a daughter and a son
And another little baby on the way
It was in the month of May
When Uncle Sam called him away
They didn’t know that goodbye kiss would be their last
He said, you’re beautiful
CHORUS:
He sang, who, who, who wins my heart
It was you, you, you right from the start
And, Hootie, we won’t ever be apart
Because I love you so
And girl, you’re beautiful
VERSE 3:

OLD GREEN FROG
By Jeremy Castle (8/29/18)
© 1998 Jeremy Glen Castle
VERSE 1:
I like bright green lily pads
And ponds beneath the big, blue, open sky
I like muddy river beds
And I love my big ol’ tongue for catching flies
I like rainy, cool, wet mornings
And I like sunny, bright, hot afternoons
And I love making ribbit sounds
Late at and night, I just croak at the moon
CHORUS:
But I’m just an old green frog (ribbit)
And my life ain’t all that bad
Hold your chin up high
Why are you so sad (ribbit)
When you get down and out
About your life and how you feel
Don’t take yourself so serious
Splash in the mud and try to learn to chill
VERSE 2:
My belly’s just a little big, but no one really seems to mind at all
I relax in the spring and later down the road, I’ll relax in the fall
I was once a little tadpole and swam against the current up the stream
Now my voice is much too deep and I’m way off key, but I still love to sing
BRIDGE:
Life is what it is
With ugly warts and all (ribbit)
Don’t fret what you can’t change
Go and have yourself a ball
Find pleasure in the simple things (ribbit)
Don’t waste your life away
There’s no guarantee in anything
So go enjoy the day
CHORUS:
And I’m just an old green frog
And my life ain’t all that bad (ribbit)
Hold your chin up high
Why are you so sad (ribbit)
When your get down and out about your life how you feel (ribbit)
Don’t take yourself so serious
Splash in the mud and try to learn to chill

CIGARETTES AND GRAVY
By Jeremy Castle
© 2018 Jeremy Glen Castle
INTRO:
He said, “I just can’t believe that now I'm eighty”
And to think I’ve lived on cigarettes and gravy
VERSE 1:
He was bellied up to a bar there on the coast
He bought us all a round a gave a toast
With a crooked grin, he just shook his head
Then he turned to look at me and said
I was just eighteen when I joined the navy
That’s when I saw her; man, she was so amazing
When I asked her for her hand, she said she’d take me
I said, you don’t know how happy you’ve just made me
PRECHORUS:
I was lost at sea when that woman saved me
When I kissed her lips, it drove me crazy
Son, I know that I’m just rambling on
But it blows my mind to know she’s really gone
CHORUS:
He said, everything in life it has a season
God don’t have to give a reason
So I just take it one day at a time
And try to live by His plan instead of mine
Though I was only just a red dirt farmer
She called me her knight in shining armor
So I called her my damsel in distress
‘Cause she looked like a princess in that dress
Son, I’ve been a lot of things, but never lazy
And I lived my whole life and loved one lady
And I just can’t believe that now I’m eighty
And to think I’ve lived on cigarettes and gravy
VERSE 2:
When my service ended, I bought her a ring
She really always was the prettiest thing
She was my only love and that was not a maybe
We bought a farm and we made lots of babies
PRECHORUS:
I was lost at sea when that woman saved me
When I kissed her lips, it drove me crazy
Son, I know that I’m just rambling on
But It breaks my heart to know she’s really gone
CHORUS:
He said everything, in life, it has a season
God doesn’t have to give a reason
I just take it one day at a time
And try to live by His plan instead of mine
Though I was only just a red dirt farmer
She called me her knight in shining armor
So I called her my damsel in distress
‘Cause she looked like a princess in that dress
I’ve been a lot of things, but one was never lazy
And I lived my whole life and loved one lady
And I just can’t believe that now I’m eighty
And just to think I’ve lived this long on cigarettes and gravy

CHORUS B:
Stealing a treasure, robbing a train
Sailing the seas or riding the range
Reckless and bold, we’re that there’s no doubt y’all
And that’s how it goes with pirates and outlaws

OLD GREEN FROG
By Jeremy Castle (8/29/18)

TAG:
But I just can’t believe that I’m already eighty
And just to think I’ve lived this long on cigarettes and gravy
